Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
Moses was an incredible person in the Bible. He was born to Hebrew parents at a time when Hebrew baby boys were being killed, so his mother put him in a basket and prayed someone would find him and take care of him. He ended up being found by women in the Pharaoh's palace and being raised as one of the royal court. Then, as an adult, he commits a crime and runs away into exile to a foreign land. Years later, he has an incredible encounter - God talks to him from a burning bush! This is the beginning of one astronomical miracle after another. But in the midst of all this supernatural show of power, Moses could only ask two questions: "How?" and "Why me?"
I know you've been called to do what may seem like some really incredible things. You look at what God is showing you, the passions He has placed in your heart and you are super confused because you feel so inadequate.
You're not alone in your doubt.
Moses doubted himself too. But isn't it good to know that God is the one who enables us to do all the work? You have one job - show up. But then you wonder, show up with what? Where are the resources coming from? Who's gonna provide all this?
You're not alone in your assignment.
Moses was trying to figure out how he was gonna get the job done too. God literally pointed to the very thing he had in his hands, a staff. That staff, a stick, did more miracles than most things in the Bible. Real talk, you barely need a cell phone to get your assignment completed if you think about it. I promise you, if you're reading this, you more than likely have everything you need. But then you wonder, I gotta do all this by myself?
You're not alone in this life.
Our scripture this week are the words that God spoke to Moses right before he was about to have to go do something major. Some years later, God would speak these same words to a young leader Moses had trained, who would do even bigger things for God's people. So I'm sharing them with you today. You. Are. Not. Alone. The Lord, YOUR GOD, is with you wherever you go. He will never leave you and He will never abandon you.
God knows that you feel inadequate. That's why he wants you to make the choice to be brave and courageous. When you trust Him to be with you, and lead you and guide you, you can step out on faith and have His power to land on. Yes, He's called you to some major things, but He's a pretty major God with some really major power and He will certainly take care of you.
Humans mean well, but they get busy, their priorities change, their needs change and they may not always stick around, even when they say they will. God will always provide everything that you need to get the job He assigned done. So we trust God and we thank Him for the help that humans provide. We don't have to get mad when seasons change for the people around us because we trust in God, not man. Sometimes on this journey you will feel like that girl in the picture: on a mountaintop and in a valley all at the same time. One thing you can rest assured from this word though, wherever you are, God is right there with you, able to see you through. Trust Him.
